It is widely acknowledged that General Practice is under increasing pressure from an aging population, medical developments and plans to move services from the hospital. As part of the response to this, we seek to enhance the role of pharmacists in clinical practice and are currently applying for funding to ‘pump-prime’ this.
In brief, we envisage using clinical pharmacists to assist the Doctors in managing the 20,000 prescription items that are issued from the surgery on a daily basis alongside contributing to the treatment of chronic diseases (Diabetes, Hypertension, COPD, etc).
All Patients of the Guildhall & Barrow Surgery, particularly those with experience of chronic disease or in receipt of repeat medications, are invited to comment on this proposal using the below form.
